So often we hear from mentors how much they are getting out of their mentoring relationship. So why not share your experience with others? Please consider sharing about mentoring with a friend, family member, or coworker. We NEED more mentors, especially males, to match with the kids we have waiting. Of course, our main goal is for the mentoring relationship to benefit the mentee in some way, but we know that mentors can also benefit! If you could help us, get the word out to others, we would be grateful. Word of mouth seems to be the top way mentors come to us, so we need YOU to help spread the word about AIM!

Go On a Trip
Not really, of course, but choose a place you have always wanted to visit (Fiji, Greece, Disney World) and find pictures and fun facts in magazines, books and online. When is the best time to go? What do you want to see while you are there? Then make your own scrapbook or travelers guide. A great way to explore and learn geography!

Show and Tell
You and your mentee can both bring in photos or items that important to you. Tell them about your family, favorite sport, or hobbies. Listen as they share their items with you. It's a great way to get to know each other!

Story Swap
Starts writing a story with your mentee. Then each take turns taking the story
home and adding a new fun twist to the story.

Adopting a Mentoring Mindset

Iowa MENTOR will be hosting a series of VIRTUAL mentor training sessions for mentors who would like to learn several key aspects of being a mentor. The mindsets and attitudes that lay the foundation for a strong mentoring relationship; basic information about youth development and the typical relationship cycle a mentor might experience while mentoring; and critical thinking skills and competencies mentors may need to grow and refine so they can meet the needs of the young people in their life. Our first session, Adopting a Mentoring Mindset, is scheduled for October 24, 2023, Noon-1pm CST.

Join All In Mentoring for our inaugural AIM For Fun(draiser)! This event will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the Waverly Area Veterans Post. This year’s event will feature entertainment by Day Peace Comedy, a silent auction, an assortment of desserts, all to support youth in the Waverly-Shell Rock area. More details to come!
