We Want to Connect With You!

Hi Parents/Guardians of AIM mentees! We have decided to start a parent newsletter to help inform you of all of AIM's happenings and to allow for more communication between AIM and parents. If there is anything you would like to see in this newsletter, we welcome any ideas!

In May, AIM staff (Ellie and Kori) will be completing surveys with every mentee who has been matched with their mentor for more than 3 months. The two short surveys help us to notice any changes in the mentee's confidence, connectedness, behavior, etc. We do our best to make sure the mentees know these are not "tests" and there are no right or wrong answers. With the results from these surveys, we are able to prove to our funders and volunteers that mentoring works!

Summer Match Events

AIM is planning 2 events this summer! Each event is for mentees and mentors to attend. If the child's mentor is unable to come, they are still welcome to attend with another adult. More information will be sent out about these events as they draw closer, but we hope you will save the dates!

Summer Communication

School-based matches are not to exchange contact information and, therefore, to have no direct contact throughout the summer months (other than at AIM hosted activities like above). However, you have the option to email, mail, or text AIM with letters, updates, or pictures and we will pass those on to your child's mentor. Mentors love getting to see/hear what their mentees are up to over the summer months!

Family Activity Ideas

The Art Walk is Waverly's juried fine arts and crafts show held on Saturday, May 3. This year will be the 20th anniversary of this great community event! Artists from the tri-state area come to Kohlmann Park to sell their works of media ranging from basketry, jewelry, pottery, photography, painting, and much more. Artists’ booths line the winding sidewalk with a perfect view of the Cedar River, making a stroll through the park a pleasant way to view and purchase the artists’ creations. Art Walk is co-sponsored by Waverly Leisure Services and the Waverly Chamber of Commerce.
