Kindness Rocks

Kids and adults of any age can enjoy this activity! Paint some rocks with inspirational or positive messages, then place them where others will see them. Such a fun, easy way to spread kindness.

Cedar Falls Earth Fair

April 12, 2025, 10am-1pm

The City of Cedar Falls is partnering with local environmental organizations to host the first Cedar Falls Earth Fair at Gateway Park! The event will include a rain barrel workshop, seed planting station, and nature-themed crafts for kids. A lunch of hot dogs and chips will be provided. The City will be giving away free prairie seed packets and tree saplings. During the event, guests can visit educational booths and enjoy displays and activities from the Center for Energy and Environmental Education, Black Hawk County Conservation, Black Hawk County Solid Waste Management, Black Hawk Soil and Water Conservation District, Cedar Falls Utilities, Steven Eilers- Horticulture and Natural Resource Coordinator at Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Black Hawk County, and Cedar Falls Public Works. Topics will include composting, gardening, pollinator and tree plantings, recycling, and more.

Fun Ideas

1. Do volunteer work together.

2. Teach your mentees how to make one of your “secret family recipes.”

3. Go shopping at a thrift store. Buy something for your mentees and yourself.

4. Go fishing. AIM has a youth fishing pole if you would like to borrow it!

5. Visit a local nursery and buy a plant or flowering shrub together. Let your

   mentees choose, plant, and care for their choices. Ask about their plants in

   future connections.
